Recommended DVD’s
The following are DVD’s that I personally recommend and own:
Obviously, I own several of Mr. Harris’ instructional videos, and am featured in many of them, so forgive my obvious bias!
BJJ 101 (Volume 1 revised, on DVD) gives you the fundamentals to build a solid game on top of. Some want flashy techniques in their instructions, but Mr. Harris goes a different route: more conceptual, with high percentage techniques.
BJJ 201 builds on top of this and geared for intermediate practitioners. BJJ Over 40 gives strategies and tips for our wiser brothers and focuses on timing and defensive postures. Armlocks Volume 1 gave me my first breakthrough with a single technique, and imparted to me the importance of mechanics.
Kenny Florian’s BJJ Seminar is also excellent, and 101 submissions will get you motivated to flow. I have a lot of other DVD and tapes, but for those just starting out, this is a nice path.

Oh, one more thing. Where can I get the Roy Dean Fundamentals of BJJ Series? I know its in your head right now, but set it free. Us out of towners could use the help. Peace.
Nice picks Roy.

As most people completely obsessed with BJJ, I have a TON of instructionals. My favorites are Matt Thorntons Seminars (Berkeley/Florida). I also really like Saulos Revolution 1 Series - So much great instruction on fundamentals. He also does some basics differently from everyone else so it’s a good perspective to see and experiment with.
See you on the mat.
