Adilson Souza vs. Joe Moreira
Here’s a fairly recent match with our “grandfather”, Joe Moriera versus a much younger black belt named Adilson Souza. Joe said people were warning him about how good Adilson was, but when you’re as experienced as Joe, nothing phases you anymore. Note how he times the stacking pass off baiting the triangle. He is a master of that pass, and his pressure was enough to break the rib of Adilson, who couldn’t continue. With BJJ, even “old men” can represent!

If you’re not sure what Roy meant by our “grandfather”, for those that train under Roy, here’s our lineage:
Mitsuyo Maeda > Carlos Gracie (brother of Helio) > Reylson Gracie > Joe Moreira > Roy Harris > Roy Dean > Us
Roy Dean is my father
Roy Harris is my grandfather
Joe Moreira is our great grandfather
Relson Gracie is my great, great grandfather
Carlos Gracie is my great, great, great grandfather
That is killer. What I was actually the most impressed with is how he was able to maintain his posture while in Souza’s guard. Rock solid. And of course the timing on the pass is flawless.
Now I understand where Mr. Harris’s legendary pressure comes from. Also love the sportsmanship and concern Sensei Moreira showed to his opponet after defeating him. Proud to be a part of this lineage..
Amazing pressure. Positively lethal.
FRI (For Rick’s Information), Reylson != Relson != Reyson. It is very confusing. More info is available here: http://www.gracie.com/family/tree.html
I meant Reylson.
Ok, sorry. Your typo is then, not the droid I’m looking for.
