So choice. Those matches are killer. I loved how you were constantly going for submissions the whole time in the first match. and that attack mentality paid off.
Similarly, but with a slightly different approach, you could tell Victor was single mindedly focused on his attack and makes his strategy work.
Thanks so much for posting both of these.

I find myself swaying and jerking while focused intently on this video. It’s quite different watching your teacher compete at this level opposed to the normal headliners on youtube. Very cool Roy…very cool.

Sensei- I wonder how different things might be if you had a following of black belts to work out with. We lower belts certainly thank you for your devotion to us. You are a giving, gifted person

I saw your match as it happened. I wish I’d had the chance to meet you, but I only saw you while you were waiting in the bullpen and then in your match.
While many people are more than happy to share their victories with everyone, it takes a lot to share one’s defeats. Thanks for posting the vid.

Awesome footage, I know Victor Estima very well and his brother Braulio, they teach in the UK and have trained with them both
over the years and have had numerous seminars with Braulio; two great ambassadors to jiu jitsu and very talented and technical
competitors.
Nice to see you leading from the front Roy and stepping up to compete!

Yep, Ive been caught with that arm bar as well from Victor. As soon as he hooks the leg, thats it!
I think the previous poster said it well “leading from the front”. I see very few who teach compete, as it is difficult to prepare for competion at that level unless you devote a significant amount of time training at that level for competion. R.
