David Camarillo Lesson

7 Comments, Posted by: Roy Dean in: Training

I feel fortunate to have participated in a private lesson with David Camarillo, Guerrilla Jiu Jitsu founder and an elite level Judo/BJJ black belt.  It was superb.  Dave and I discussed integrating Judo into Jiu Jitsu classes, flying kimuras, and much more.  A very technical time.  The hospitality from Dave and his lovely wife Shumei was also top notch.  Special thanks to “Burns” for being uke.

  1. Nice.
He released a BJJ apps about three weeks ago on what he calls the shin guard.  It’s a BJJ guy\lady’s dream for dealing with the single leg.

  2. Excellent partners always have my dojo, judo, where we learned, shared and integrated our styles, judo and jujitsu integration has always seemed natural, though some think otherwise, Greetings Sensei Dean.

  3. Flying Kimora is my favorite move of the week!  Looking forward to rolling with the crew from Guerrilla in March!

  4. So when you release a video or app on your thoughts of bjj judo integration and how to best express them together…I’m waiting.

  6. Man!  That sounds like an awesome time.  You really embody the aspect of teaching that I admire the most: Professional Development.  Actually seeking to learn from other instructors and not just spar with them.

  7. I think that’s a great idea. Combining Jiu Jitsu with other styles has a powerful potential and should be taken into consideration. It might get a tad difficult to integrate but the end result will be just the worth for the effort spent in doing so. You should really go for it. Keep us posted about your progress.
